League Director’s Note
Welcome to the season six event season!
We are so excited to hold the first official race of the 2024 Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League season! The Rosaryville State Park course is always an amazing venue and we can't wait to see all of our student-athletes put together everything they have worked on all season and test themselves on the new course.
We know that you've all been working hard to prepare for this race, and we want to congratulate you on all of your hard work. We're are proud of the dedication and sportsmanship that you've already shown throughout the season.
We also want to acknowledge the work of team volunteers and coaches. Without your help, this season would not be possible. Thank you for all that you do to support our student-athletes.
We're looking forward to a great day of racing at Rosaryville State Park. We hope to see you all there!
Here are some important things to remember:
Safety is always our top priority. Please follow the rules of the race and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
This is a great opportunity to make new friends and build community through the sport of mountain biking. Be sure to introduce yourself to racers from other teams and cheer each other on.
We're all excited to compete in a real race, but don't forget to have fun! This is a great day to enjoy the outdoors and challenge yourself.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable race!
Sincerely,
Jon Posner and Fred Powell
Maryland League Directors
Pro Tip
What is ‘Earned Lap Cutoff?’
In a 2-lap race, if a rider finishes lap 1 before the cutoff time, they will be allowed to continue on the course for the second lap.
If they finish lap 1 after the cutoff time, they will be done with their race but they will still earn a finish time and score. For a 3-lap race, they must complete 2 laps before the cutoff time to earn the third lap, etc.
This is to prevent riders from racing for a longer time period than appropriate.
See this chart for the target race times.
Course Information
Description
Can you believe we are coming back for our 5TH race here! - here is the recap from the 2021 Time Trial event.
This Rosaryville course is the perfect entry into the season. The course is fun and twisty with no significant climbs or grinds. The lap starts with some fun single track that dips down into shade and crosses a stream, then we cross a power line and are treated to 2 miles of BRAND NEW trail before turning back out towards the white perimeter trail. On the back side of the lap, riders are rewarded for staying on the gas because the trails flow very well.
There is one driveway crossing to be aware of (we’ll have a marshal there) otherwise, it’s time to rock and roll! 🤘
The lap concludes with a long grassy field and a small embankment to climb - save a little bit of fuel in your tank for the final push across the finish!
