Risk at Rosaryville Season 8
September 7, 2025
Rosaryville State Park
Upper Marlboro, MD
Individual Time Trial
🎲 The competition side of Season 8 kicks off with our opening Time Trial—think of it as the first roll of the dice! Instead of the chaos of mass starts and jockeying for position, riders get to race themselves, moving their own piece forward on the board. This format takes the pressure off, keeps things safe, and makes for a lighter lift all around—a shorter day for riders, teams, coaches, and families. It’s the perfect way to shake off the competitive cobwebs, make your opening move, and have fun as we get the season underway!
History of this Event
In 2020, COVID forced the cancellation of MICL events, though thankfully teams were able to still practice and ride. For 2021 we used an opening time trial to help the league categorize racers, since 2/3 of the league had not raced in the previous season. the event went smoothly and was well received all around. The Rosaryville course is a terrific first-event venue with it’s rolling topography and well shaded trails.

Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are the backbone of our league and they not only make our events possible, they make them great.
MICL Event Volunteers have a great time, get a behind-the-scenes experience at these magical events, and all are entered into our mega volunteer raffle at the end of the season. We rely on volunteer participation from every team in the league. Thank You!
Race Plate Pickup and Programs
Sunday, September 7th, 2025, all day.
Race plates will be available for pickup at registration on Saturday. They are bundled by team, so only a team director or head coach can pick up the plates unless arrangements are made ahead of time. These chip timing number plates will be used for the entire season, please do not lose them. Double- check that you are fully registered and Race Ready in the NICA Pit Zone, and check your race category, before league registration closes 8/10. There is no onsite registration available at events this year.
DO NOT LOSE YOUR RACE PLATE - replacement plates are $20 at the registration tent. DO NOT leave it on your bike on the bike rack - IT WILL BLOW AWAY.

League Director’s Note
Welcome to the season 8 event season!
🎲 Welcome to Season 8 of MICL!
Think of this Rosaryville Time Trial as the first big move on the game board. The course is almost identical to the TT loop we rolled through in 2024, but with a few new spaces added to make a full 5.4 miles of rolling singletrack. Depending on your play style, lap times will range from a blazing sub-25 minutes to a steady 55 minutes of mountain biking fun. Our staff who set the course back in June are still smiling from their “test spin”—it’s that good!
This course is the perfect opening move for the season. It’s twisty, playful, and welcoming, with no punishing climbs or grinds. Riders begin with some flowing singletrack, dip across a stream, then climb gently along a shaded creek before looping back out to the white perimeter trail. Stay on the gas through the back half of the lap—the trails flow like a fast track on the board, rewarding momentum all the way.
The final stretch plays like the last roll of the dice: a grassy straightaway, a quick climb up a small embankment, and one last push to cross the finish line where the crowd will be cheering. Save a little energy for that final move—it might just be the winning play!

Course Information
Description
Can you believe we haven’t raced at time trial here since our comeback from Covid at the beginning of 2021 - here is the recap from that event.
This Rosaryville course is the perfect entry into the season. The course is fun and twisty with no significant climbs or grinds. The lap starts with some fun single track that dips down into shade and passes by our old stream crossing before popping onto the perimeter trail for a brand new section, then follows a nice mellow and shady climb along a creek before turning back out towards the remaining portion of the white perimeter trail. On the back side of the lap, riders are rewarded for staying on the gas because the trails flow very well.
There is one driveway crossing to be aware of (we’ll have a marshal there) otherwise, it’s time to rock and roll! 🤘
