Rocky Gap TTC Weekend

Join MICL and Maryland DNR for a hands-on trail work weekend at Rocky Gap State Park!

Teams will arrive Friday for a project briefing, spend Saturday building new trail on the mountain, and wrap up Sunday with a ride day to enjoy freshly finished machine-built trail—and hopefully the trail you helped create. It’s a full weekend of stewardship, teamwork, and riding in one of Maryland’s best trail destinations.

Friday - Participants may arrive Friday evening to set up camp. Park staff will lead a brief project overview outlining Saturday’s trail work plans. After the briefing, enjoy a relaxed evening in camp and get a good night’s rest ahead of the work day.

Saturday – Trail Build Day Saturday is the main work day. We’ll gather around 8:30 AM and hike up the mountain at 9:00 AM SHARP, remaining on-site throughout the day and returning to camp around 3:00 PM. Once we’re off the mountain, the day is complete—feel free to relax at camp, hike, fish, or explore the park. Six hours of trail work is a full effort, and you’ll have earned some well-deserved downtime.

Sunday – Ride Day For those staying overnight, Sunday will be a ride day. Participants will have the opportunity to ride newly completed machine-built trails at the park and, conditions permitting, the trail section built during Saturday’s work day.

Attendance - Flexibility You are not required to attend the full weekend. Saturday is the primary day, and participants are welcome to join for the day only. You do not have to be a member of MICL to participate in this. All we ask is that you please sign up here to participate.

Camping - Camping availability is very limited. All camping reservations must be made through Zeffy—camping will not be available through the Maryland DNR reservation system. Rocky Gap State Park has reserved the campground specifically for this event and MICL folks only. Campsite assignments will be emailed the week before the event. Each site allows up to one vehicle and two tents/6 people; please plan accordingly.

Food - All food is self-provided. Given the number of participants, this approach allows for greater flexibility. Cooking at campsites is permitted as long as park regulations are followed. Pack lunches and snacks are recommended for Saturday’s work day, with the evening being a great opportunity for camp-style dinners.

TTC Hours - YES! This does go towards your TTC hours for the year!

Rain Date - There is no rain date for this! We will make a call on the 23rd if the weather is looking bad. If it's light rain, we will go ahead with this and continue the work. All folks will be updated if we have any issues.
