League Director’s Note

Welcome Back To Brunswick!

This is a special one—our race at the Rivers Edge Trails takes place right at a middle and high school! How many NICA leagues get the chance to compete on trails that connect directly to the school grounds? It’s an incredible opportunity and we couldn’t be more excited to bring everyone here.

We’ll have an awesome infield set up on the ball fields, creating the perfect spot for teams, families, and fans to gather. From there, racers will wind in and out of the amazing Rivers Edge trail system—fast, flowy singletrack mixed with punchy climbs that reward you with fun, swooping descents. These trails deliver some of the best flow you’ll find anywhere.

By now, you’ve already shaken off the cobwebs riding with your friends at Button Farm and tested yourself against the clock at Rosaryville. Here at Brunswick, you’ll put it all together—racing your friends head-to-head for an action-packed weekend of mountain biking!

The race finishes in true NICA style, popping out of the woods and onto the high school softball field with crowds there to cheer you across the line. It’s going to be an unforgettable weekend of racing, community, and fun—don’t miss it!

Sincerely,

Joey Sikorski

Race/Event Director

We are adjusting the High School Boys waves this season to better accommodate the size of the HS2 and HS3 fields. This new structure has already been very successful in the NJ League and we expect it to work well here too.

By making this change, we’re able to keep our existing wave times and maintain the flow of the day. Without this adjustment, we would need to add a 5th wave, which would push the schedule back by another half hour. As the season goes on, that shift would have us finishing later and running into daylight challenges.

This adjustment allows us to run a smoother, safer, and more efficient race day while keeping the experience fun for all riders.

Waves and Start Times

Pro Tip
What is ‘Earned Lap Cutoff?’

In a 2-lap race, if a rider finishes lap 1 before their cutoff time, they will be allowed to continue on the course for another lap.

If they finish lap 1 after the cutoff time, they will be done their the race and they will still earn a finish time and score. For a 3-lap race, they must complete 2 laps before their cutoff time to earn the third lap, etc.

Our finish line volunteers This is to prevent riders from racing for a longer time period than appropriate.

See this chart for the target race times.

Course Information

Description

Built by MORE, this trail system even features a section named after Jon and Fred: Pozwell Pass! Don’t be fooled by its compact footprint—these trails are brilliantly designed, and the miles add up quickly. Expect some punchy climbs that will test your legs, but the payoff is pure fun with flowy descents and playful terrain that keeps you smiling all ride long.

  • Resident and Employee Permits: If you live or work on North & South Maryland Avenue, the Unit Block of West Potomac Street, or South Maple Avenue, register your vehicle with City Hall to get a free parking permit sticker. This helps our enforcement officers know who is legally parked. You can register multiple vehicles per address!

  • Loading/Unloading Zone: We've introduced a trial loading/unloading zone at the corner of West Potomac Street and South Maryland Avenue. This will help keep delivery trucks from blocking the street. Residents and business owners can use this zone for up to 15 minutes if it's not in use.
