Why did you get involved? I got involved to help grow the mountain bike community by supporting new riders as coach and mentor.
MTB Likes: Riding a new trail for the first time.
MTB Dislikes: When I'm the only girl riding my bike in a big group!
Favorite Trail(s): Old Fashioned at Bryce Bike Park
Fun facts: Prickly Pear Ice Cream from the Virgin Trading Post outside of Zion in Utah, is THE best ice cream.
LAURA GRAY
Team Affiliation: Monocacy Composite
Years Coaching: 6 years
NICA Coach Level: Level 3
BICP Level: Level 1
Why did you get involved? What better way to get #moregirlsonbikes than to be a coach?
MTB Likes: My favorite part of mountain biking is the views on the trails, especially out west. Nothing beats the red rocks of the desert. But I also love the challenge of a good rock garden. There is so much satisfaction in getting through a tough section of trail.
MTB Dislikes: Rainy weather that shuts down the trails and road climbs.
Favorite Trail(s): Gooseberry Mesa, Hurricane, UT and Indian Turnip Trail, Deep Creek, MD
Any fun facts: Will ride for food. Also, I love this organization so much that I named my cat Nica.
Bryan “BMac” McMillan
Team Affiliation: Mountain Lions Composite (MLCC)
Years Coaching: 4th Season
NICA Coach Level: 3
BICP Level: N/A
Why did you get involved? My youngest son joined the MLCC, and I loved the idea of sharing this time together. I started out just wanting to be a sweeper, now committed to getting more kids on bikes.
MTB Likes: The freedom of human powered movement while exploring new trails and roads.
MTB Dislikes: Riders who do not respect Mother Nature or the rules of the road/trail.
Favorite Trail(s): Locally, love PVSP. Destination-wise, love DH at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY.
Any fun facts: I was born in The Netherlands but I don’t ride cobbles and I love hills.
